What is Remote Desktop?

The easiest way to explain Remote Desktop is that it is same like using remote controlled software. It helps  users connect to a specific computer and control it over the internet as if they were right in front of it. If you have ever been on a tech support call and the technician takes over your mouse cursor to run a fix, they are using remote desktop technology. Remote Desktop is a client application that allows a “client” computer to connect to a “host” computer from a remote location. Users can  control and use the applications and files on the main  device from anywhere.

How to use RDP?

FIRSTLY , select Start WINDOW BOTTON > Settings  > System > Remote Desktop, and turn on Enable Remote Desktop.

Write down the name of this PC under How to connect to this PC. You’ll need this later.

Use Remote Desktop to connect to the PC you set up:

• local Windows PC: In the search box on the taskbar, type Remote Desktop Connection, and select Remote Desktop Connection. In Remote Desktop Connection, type the name of the PC you want to connect to (select) Connect.

How RDP Works.

RDP transmits screen information from the remote terminal server to the client, and sends keyboard and mouse inputs from the client to the remote server. Communications between the client and the terminal server are highly asymmetric: A lot of data flows from the server to the client, while relatively little flows from the client to the server. This is because a much greater volume of data is required to represent the graphical screen information than is needed to describe keyboard and mouse inputs.

There are several advantages to RDP. One advantage is that it does not require a VPN. It also keeps data stored securely on the user’s desktop, instead of storing it on cloud servers or on the user’s unsecured personal devices. Furthermore, RDP enables companies with a legacy on-premises IT setup to allow their employees to work from home.
